- This story continues into the next issue.
Synopsis: - Doctor Fate restores Hal Jordan, and the other mystical heroes pour much of their energy into him, allowing him to 'recreate' the Green Lantern Corps and take on Asmodel. Meanwhile, Captain Marvel, he of the "pure soul", wrests the Spear of Destiny from Starfire and brings it back to Earth.
- In Hell, Faust revives Blue Devil, who then destroys Nebiros with the aid of Firestorm. This returns Faust's soul, bargained away by his father to Nebiros. However, the other heroes are unable to relight the fires of Hell. Faust realizes that this is because it can only be restored by an act of murder or similar evil, so he slits the Enchantress' throat and uses her body to ignite the hellfire. Green Lantern and Firestorm cannot condone this act, but Superman and Zatanna understand, particularly since it means Faust loses his soul once more.
- They return to Earth, where Captain Marvel attacks the Spectre with the Spear of Destiny, opening the way for Hal Jordan to "move in", but something appears to be wrong with Superman...
