Synopsis:

Outside Earth's atmosphere, the JLA are fighting against the coming of Imperiex and aren't doing too well. J'onn is the first one hit, endangering the team's telepathic link, and Green Lantern is hit not long after. One of Imperiex's probes soon takes Plastic Man and Flash out of the fight while Wonder Woman and Aquaman battle another. Superman is at his parents' deserted farm, but soon arrives to come to his teammates' aid. He discovers for the first time that there is more than one Imperiex, but is unable to prevent Wonder Woman from slicing into the armor of one probe, causing it to explode and injure her horribly. As Maxima and Starfire arrive to help Superman transport the wounded, they also inform Aquaman that a probe has struck just outside Atlantis' capital city - he must go.
On Earth, Lex Luthor and his advisers review the war effort - the Imperiex probes have landed in the exact center of each continent and must be stopped. In Krasnoyarsk in Russia, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle see an Imperiex probe kill Warrior, and all over the world heroes and villains alike must battle to save the planet. Aboard the space ark, Superman has a brief reunion with Lois Lane before heading to Atlantis. There, Aquaman tells Tempest to be ready if he should fall, and takes Neptune's trident into battle with the Imperiex probe. Knowing that he must give his all, he slices into the probe's armor; Superman arrives to see a massive energy explosion and to find Aquaman's armor empty and Atlantis itself missing.
