HISTORY

Styge Prime is most notably recognized as the homeworld of the Red Lantern Skallox, who was formerly an enforcer for the criminal Lancer Syndicate and received his red power ring there.

The planet itself boasts technology more advanced than present-day Earth, with the Lancer Syndicate having established an orbital defense system. Atrocitus and Prime Earth were drawn to Styge Prime by a surge of rage energy, leading them to discover the Rage Entity the Butcher being held captive by the Lancer Syndicate.

Following Atrocitus poisoning the Blood Lake of their previous base on Ysmault, Atrocitus made Styge Prime the new headquarters for his faction of the Red Lantern Corps. He constructed the Red Cathedral and a new Blood Lake on the planet, from which he could create a Red Lantern Corps entirely subservient to his will.

While Atrocitus and his faction of Red Lanterns were away battling Guy Gardner on Earth, only three Red Lanterns remained on Styge Prime to guard the Blood Lake. This left the planet vulnerable, and Zilius Zox seized the opportunity. He attacked the Red Cathedral and the Blood Lake with gunfire, ultimately crashing the Kaalvar to ensure their complete destruction.
