Synopsis:

Jade awakes from a restless sleep, sensing that there is something seriously wrong with her brother, Obsidian. Since she has lost her powers, she contacts her father, Sentinel.
At the JSA headquarters, Star-Spangled Kid stumbles across a news broadcast that says that Milwaukee has been drained of all shadows - immediately realizing there must be a connection, Sentinel gets the team together, and they set off in the Steel Eagle, a jet designed by Pat Dugan. When they arrive in Milwaukee, they discover a disembodied shadow in Jim Rice's apartment, which attacks Sentinel. Immediately, there is an unnatural eclipse over the whole city, and shadow beings begin to attack the JSA members. Absorbed into a world of shadows, Sentinel discovers Rice who is in a state of absolute terror, begging to be killed. Sentinel also meets Ian Karkull, who has reconstituted himself since his defeat by the JSA some fifty years ago. Obsidian has the rest of the JSAers in his power, possessing the most dangerous of them, and stringing Black Canary, Atom Smasher and the Star-Spangled Kid up with shadow matter. The Kid is able to release Black Canary, who doesn't feel she will be able to get very far, but is saved by the timely intervention of the new Doctor Mid-Nite.
