HISTORY
Eager to join a great interstellar federation, the race known only as the Olys needed to demonstrate their capacity for destruction. The Federation was under constant threat and the Olys were required to show they were capable of dealing with the Federation's enemies. Using the Biblical story of creation, the Olys were given six tasks which would ravage worlds and effectively reverse the creation story.
Their first task led them to the planet Zerbon, a world which only one side faced the sun, the other side was in perpetual night. The aliens established equipment on the ocean floor to hold a canopy of rock over Zerbon.
The Ravagers from Olys soon found they were being pursued by the Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814. Hal Jordan of Earth had been warned of the Ravagers' presence by his masters, the Guardians of the Universe. The Ravagers went on the offensive and did not waste time speaking with their enemy, then moved on to their next target. Green Lantern destroyed their submerged device and broke up the meteoroid swarm which blotted out Zerbon's sun. -Flash #237
Near the star-sun Atria was the artificial world named the Vivarium. The Ravagers left another of their mechanical devices to pull both halves of the Vivarium together and crush the structure, killing its tiny inhabitants, the Ayries. Green Lantern realized the mechanism was using the energy expelled by his power ring. The emerald warrior used his power battery to draw that power back into the hands of a Green Lantern. It was in the Vivarium that Green Lantern befriended one of the Ayries which he named Itty. -Flash #238-#239
On the planet Archos, the Olys had tried to flood the world. An unmanned ship in Archos' orbit controlled the course of a comet which left behind a trail of bonded molecules that caused a monstrous artificial tide on the planet. Green Lantern dispersed the comet's residue and Archos was returned to normal.
When Jordan reached the Ravagers' ship, he found one of his enemies waiting for him. The Ravager was actually a holographic projection which aimed a weapon at the Green Lantern. They had planned for the ring wielder to strike at the hologram and have his beam returned to him when it hit a reflective surface the hologram was covering. The Green Lantern's alien ally, Itty, warned him of the trap before it was sprung. -Flash #240
The Federation representative was not pleased with the Olys' failures. The Olys had two more chances to prove themselves worthy or they would be forever denied admission into the Federation.
Reaching Earth, a Ravager left the ship to spray dust over a remote valley in India. This caused animals to shrink to insect size while insects increased to the size of elephants. Green Lantern was able to contain the dust within the valley, reverse the process and capture the Ravager who told him of his people's plans. Green Lantern downed the Ravagers' ship but not before becoming the first victim of their final task.
Enveloping Green Lantern in a reversion ray, the Ravagers planned the same fate for the rest of humanity. The ring wielder quickly regressed to a Neanderthal state. Evolution would rapidly reverse itself until mankind crumbled to dust. The Olys repaired their ship and left but were once more knocked out of the sky by the Green Lantern. Terrified the now-savage Green Lantern would send a power ring created saber tooth tiger to devour them, the Ravagers reversed the effects of the ray.
Restored to humanity, Green Lantern destroyed the Olys' weapons and ordered them to leave Sector 2814 and never return. The Ravagers would never join the Federation. The current status of the Ravagers from Olys has yet to be revealed. -Flash #243
