HISTORY
Oranx is a planet located in Space Sector 82, distinguished as the homeworld of the Green Lantern Jruk. While specifics about its solar system remain unknown, the planet is characterized by a striking reddish-pink sky.
The inhabitants of Oranx are a humanoid species with pale white skin, known as Oranxians. Their society is uniquely and fundamentally built upon the principles of gladiatorial combat.[1]
The government of Oranx is known as the Ruling Council, a body comprised exclusively of gladiators who have demonstrated exceptional prowess and endurance by surviving twenty seasons in the perilous Blood Bowl, a massive arena. Earning a seat on this council signifies not only martial skill but also immense resilience and strategic acumen.
Intriguingly, policy decisions on Oranx are made through a form of ritualized combat. Each side of a "debate" or policy dispute selects a councilor to represent them in a fight within the Blood Bowl. The victor of this combat determines the outcome of the "debate," effectively turning political discourse into a physical struggle.
Although not a significant force in interstellar politics, Oranx was targeted by the Durlans as part of their scheme to destroy the Green Lantern Corps. A Durlan operative infiltrated Oranxian society, killing and impersonating Vrokull, the Master of the Blood Bowl. Under this disguise, the Durlan arranged an alliance between Oranx and the Khund, likely exploiting Oranx's warrior culture for their anti-Green Lantern agenda.[2]
Not long after, a fake universe-wide broadcast, seemingly from Green Lantern Hal Jordan, falsely claimed the Green Lantern Corps intended to control the universe. This broadcast, a Durlan impersonation, justified Oranx's alliance with the Khund in the eyes of their warrior society. This manipulation was a key part of the Durlans' broader strategy to incite animosity against the Green Lantern Corps, weakening them and using planets like Oranx as pawns.[3]
