The Leprechauns are said to possess what was probably received as magical powers in the old days.
It is not known where the compulsion to lead humans to their gold when they are captured comes from.
The FLF have utilized rifles known as Blunderbusses, able to fire 20 rounds per second.

NOTE
The Leprechauns are beings from Irish myths, generally described as mischievous and short in stature. According to legend, the Leprechauns hide gold coins in a pot at the end of the rainbow.
It was recently revealed that the Leprechauns of Earth are actually aliens, or the descendants of aliens from the planet Maltus. A long time ago, Maltusians left their planet in order to colonize other planets, and one such group eventually became known as Earths Leprechauns. Other Maltusians evolved to Oans (Guardians of the Universe), Zamarons, Controllers and Earth's Babylonian gods.
With the expansion of human civilization, the Leprechauns were driven further and further into the wild. To most humans, their existence became the stuff of legend.
The Leprechauns are often associated with the Faeries, and at least some of the Leprechaun community now resides in Faerie, a safe haven for mythical beings.
In modern times, Blue Devil stopped a plot hatched by a renegade branch of Leprechauns belonging to the Faerie Liberation Front (FLF). The FLF wanted to use Dr. Alec Holland's bio-restorative formula to accelerate plant growth and turn mankind's cities into forests. Blue Devil put a stop to their plans with the help of cub reporter Jimmy Olsen and uncle Seamus Cassidy, who claimed that he was himself part Faerie.
Later, the Guardian Ganthet and Earth's Green Lantern located the remaining Leprechauns on Earth in order to offer them to take their rightful place alongside the Guardians of the Universe. Only the man known as Percival accepted.
