Synopsis:

Hourman executes plan B - he and Sand are transported to a 'chronal stasis field' where they can ask advice from Hourman's father, the first hero to bear that name. The android Hourman rescued him instants before his death so that his son could have an hour's worth of time to spend with him. Using just a couple of those minutes, he suggests destabilizing the Ultra-Humanite over his many identities and if that doesn't work, shorting out the Thunderbolt, current source of most of the Humanite's power, with a lightning rod.

Returning to the others, they begin to put the plan into action: Mister Terrific uses his 'T-spheres' to disorient the Ultra-Humanite while the others create a lightning rod for Captain Marvel to use against him. In the process of fighting the Hawks, Hector and Wildcat free Sentinel and gradually the formerly possessed heroes re-awaken to fight back against the Ultra-Humanite. As he begins to lose control, it becomes ever more evident that Johnny Thunder is not dead - the Humanite is controlling his body from afar like the others, and shorting out the Thunderbolt could kill him. However, Jakeem is sure that Johnny is telling them to go ahead, and Captain Marvel steels himself to do the deed no matter the consequences.
