Synopsis:
As he and Hawkgirl fall to their deaths, Hawkman bursts the bonds tying them together and speeds up his own descent, crashing into a Dark Wingman below, taking his wings and saving his love at the last moment. Meanwhile, Onimar Synn taunts Zihn Tarak, even as the Hawks begin their moves against him, disguising themselves as Wingmen, and the Flash, despite the loss of his frictionless aura, vibrates through a weak spot in the wall of the cell inhabited by himself, Terrific and Fate. As a sandstorm builds, Synn confronts the Hawks, but is himself attacked by Black Adam. The storm resolves itself, coming together in the person of Sand, who rejoins his JSA colleagues and the Hawks even as Atom Smasher bursts out of Crypt's insides.
Reunited, Hawkman, Black Adam and the Justice Society face off against Synn, but for all their power, they have little effect on him. Hawkman tells Hawkgirl that the only way they can defeat Synn is to take control of the Nth metal by uniting their souls in passion - a kiss that totally destroys their enemy. Back on the ground, Kendra admits that she does feel an attraction for her soul-mate but insists that she needs time to think. Bruised and battered, the team is returned to their headquarters by a grateful Tarak, but not before Hawkman promises to return to Thanagar.
Some time later, when the dust has settled, Sentinel, Flash, Wildcat and Hawkman sit on the roof of their headquarters and think of how time has moved on. Hawkman wonders if there is still a place for the old-timers, but Flash reminds him that even if the public revere the younger heroes like the Justice League, those heroes look up to them, and they have a duty to watch over them. Sand then comes up to the roof to be able to introduce Hawkman to the rest of the team.
