Synopsis: - Held at gunpoint by Detective Montoya (who is reciting nonsense poetry by Lewis Carroll), Sasha Bordeaux once again rues the day she became Bruce Wayne (a.k.a. Batman)'s bodyguard. Particularly when her employer comes to the rescue. Batman tells her that he thinks Jervis Tetch, the Mad Hatter is behind their criminal actions, though he can find no mind-control device in their ski masks, which is his usual m.o. He also tells her to just go home, particularly when she starts telling him that Allen and Montoya both bought cups of coffee. At the G.C.P.D., Stacy brings Allen and Montoya's misdemeanour to Lieutenant Bullock's attention. He goes to tell the Commissioner, and finds Batman already in his office, explaining his theory, and offering the horrible possibility that as much as a third of the police force could potentially be under Tetch's control. As the control is not being administered through headgear, everything in the detectives' pockets and all of their jewellery and so on is taken away from them to try and find the receivers.
- Elsewhere, the Mad Hatter sends out a team of willing 'volunteers' to distribute coffee citywide - well, its the closest he can come to a tea party. And Sasha Bordeaux waits for Batman/Wayne to return home, wondering if she still has a job. The short answer is she does, because Wayne trusts her to keep his secret. She offers to help however she can, and he asks two things of her. One, that she give up her gun. And two, that she buy a cup of coffee, picking up the card that entitles her to a free cup once she's bought ten...

- Leonard "Swifty" Burgess (first appearance; in between pages 12 and 31 of Catwoman: Selina's Big Score; the owner of Swifty's Pawnshop)
Synopsis: - Slam Bradley is back in bad old Gotham City again for the first time in years. He's been given a job by the mayor - to track down a woman that the police think is dead - Catwoman. The mayor thinks she's very much alive, but laying low. They don't have much of a file on her - what they did have has been either stolen or destroyed, including her fingerprints from when she was arrested some time ago.
- One known associate of Catwoman is the fence Swifty Burgess, who has also had a prior association with Bradley. The fence calls in some heavies to take the detective out, but he fights back, his show of force intimidating the fence enough to give him what little info he has - after all, he only worked for Catwoman on a couple of occasions. He knows nothing of her life, but has heard a little of her death - the cops had it in for her ever since she was supposed to have killed one Selina Kyle in New York. It isn't much, but it's the only lead he's got - Slam Bradley will pursue one dead woman to find another.
