Synopsis:

1943. The Atom, one of the younger members of the JSA is constantly frustrated by others taking advantage of his small stature, and the only way he can went his anger is when he's in costume and fighting Nazi saboteurs and the like. However, this anger leads him to ruin an important stealth mission, and Hawkman suspends him from the Society for a week. Two days later, and his anger is constantly at boiling point with nowhere to go, so Dr Mid-Nite suggests a calming measure. Unfortunately, this measure kicks in automatically once he resumes his crime-fighting activities, and the only way that his team-mates can get him to fight his opponents is by directing a stream of insults at him to get his anger up. The question is, does he know they were only joking?

Synopsis:

The JSA are shocked by the new hard line that the Spectre is taking on humanity - literally devouring a number of Japanese scientists for example. Starman is chosen to talk to him, hopefully to show him some reason. He discovers that the Spirit of Vengeance is beginning to wonder whether he should just purge the Earth of mankind, capable of so much evil. The two of them are transported to an American internment camp for Japanese citizens, which seems to confirm the Spectre's feelings, but they also witness the power of hope and belief which persuades the Spectre that mankind may be worth something after all.

Synopsis:

Hippolyta is trying to teach her fellow heroes in the All-Star Squadron a lesson about the way in which women should behave, free from dependence on men. However, Liberty Belle and the Phantom Lady don't take her too seriously and in the middle of their discussion they are called away to a conflict with some saboteurs. They arrive on the scene only to be upstaged by an unknown hero called the Red Tornado, who appears to ruin their plan. The saboteurs are followed to an aircraft hanger where they have constructed a flying fortress, and the All-Stars and Tornado are able to put a stop to their plans.
Hippolyta is sure that Red Tornado will claim this as a victory for men and ignore the role of the heroines, but she is surprised to learn that Red Tornado is a she, simply protecting her livelihood. "My sisters, that is the way of the Amazon."

Synopsis:

Hourman comes up against a nuclear-powered foe whose power lasts for 30 minutes longer than his, making him supremely confident that he can beat the hero. However, Hourman uses cunning and guile to defeat him instead of his powers, leaving one very angry villain.

Synopsis:

June 27 1942. Dr Fate and Sentinel are making plans to foil an attempt by Hitler to kidnap Churchill and Roosevelt, but they fear that Firebrand and the Shining Knight will get in the way. However, their fears are ungrounded, for the two have missed each other, having been parted for some time, and take some time over renewing their friendship.

Synopsis:

The Sandman is alerted by a dream that something is going to happen which will cause Wonder Woman and Hawkman to battle each other. He races to the JSA head-quarters only to discover that 'he' has already called them to a deserted warehouse. He races after them, and discovers that they are being affected by Kali Gari, the Nazi dream assassin, who has made each see a terrible foe in the other. He does not understand why she, as an Indian, will work for the Nazis, but defeats her anyway - questions can wait.
