OVERVIEW
The so-called "Wizard City" is a remarkably intact fragment of Krypton that ultimately came crashing to Earth, in the African country of Kurtiswana.
HISTORY
The circumstances of the Wizard City surviving Krypton's destruction may inform how the city survived its arrival on Earth, still intact. Stranger still, despite the impact crater resembling a valley and the seismographic recordings attributed to the city's arrival, which should have been a catastrophic event, it had very little effect on the Earth itself. It is likely due to this relatively mundane arrival that world governments did not investigate, as only museum curator Mark Olsen and Vedders, his hired guide, set off to find the meteor strike.
It was named Wizard City by a hidden civilization, descendants of the knights and their families lost in Africa during the Crusades. They forbid anyone from entering the Wizard City, though Vedders broke away and discovered Kryptonian weaponry he could exploit. After finding Mark Olsen, Superboy and he came across the Wizard City and learned of Vedders' plot. Superboy was unable to approach the city, due to its base of kryptonite. Alongside Olsen, they crafted a plan to defeat Vedders and remove him from the city. Suerboy then buried the city by caving in the crater walls to prevent further exploitation of its advanced technology.
Over a decade later, the government of Kurtiswana began unearthing parts of the city, and Vedders, now escaped from prison, brought another escaped convict, Desmond Dexter to the city. Taking a suit of Kryptonian armor, Dexter began a crime spree eventually coming into conflict with the adult Superman. He was eventually defeated. To avoid a third incident in the future, Superman had the Wizard City relocated to a lava flow deep near the Earth's core. It has not been seen since.
