HISTORY

Wade Eiling was a military man, through and through, a trait he inherited from his father. He was the chief manipulator in the Captain Atom Project, as well as having a large group of operatives in Vietnam including the men who became the Ghost and the Cambodian. Wade worked his way into working with Dr. Heinrich Megala on the Silver Shield, and with the X-Ionizer. He got Nathaniel Adam "volunteered" for the Captain Atom Project, Clifford Zmeck for its follow-up, the Major Force Project, all the while setting up Martin Allard to become his most loyal assistant decades later.

Wade also worked with the U.S. Army in retrieving the Appellax aliens from the just formed Justice League of America. Wade deeply resented having to work with Amanda Waller of the Suicide Squad, but did so to help borrow one of her agents, Nightshade, to help control Captain Atom. Wade Eiling worked with Maxwell Lord and Amanda, as well as most of Earth's heroes during the Invasion, and this only fueled his desire for more power for himself. He also worked against his own agents in the Captain Atom Project with a secret alliance with the Ghost. He lost some of the day-to-day control of Captain Atom during the Janus Directive, but still continued to weave his web of lies and duplicity. He lost Major Force, but as he aided Captain Atom in his final assault against the Ghost, he picked up a few extra operatives as a result of this operation.

Later, he was working secretly with the Cabal inside the U.S. government, which had attempted to get the Atom (Ray Palmer) as an operative, and in a nuclear war game which nearly escalated into a real nuclear war narrowly avoided by Sarge Steel recruit, Jack Marshall.

Wade's grab for power became more personal when he had his brain transplanted into one of the Shaggy Man's bodies in order for Wade to face the current JLA. He later was recruited into Lex Luthor's second Injustice Gang, but was sent tumbling into the quantum field by Orion's dog, Sturmer.
