OVERVIEW

The Japanese martial artist calling himself Tsunami (no relation to the World War II superheroine) is the former sensei (teacher) of John Butcher as well as Oliver Queen.

HISTORY

Tsunami first encountered the Butcher when the CIA sent the latter to Okinawa to train. Butcher and Tsunami soon became close friends, recognizing in each other true students of philosophy with a shared mystical streak. Tsunami also became the sensei of Oliver Queen (Green Arrow I) when the latter first began to study Zen.

Tsunami is a modern philosopher who does not want or need to choose between eastern and western philosophy, but applies the best parts of both on his life. In addition of being a brilliant martial artist, he is a very good wax sculptor. Tsunami has an American girlfriend named Sidney.
