OVERVIEW
The original Task Force X was a governmental agency responsible for 'special forces' such as Checkmate, the Suicide Squad, and Project Atom. In later years, it has evolved into Task Force Delta.

HISTORY
After the retiring of the first wave of super-human crimefighters, policy makers in the United States felt a vacuum would develop in the fighting and discovery of extraterrestrial and homegrown menaces to society. Col. Jeb Stuart was tapped to create the programs that would fight these.
Dividing Task Force X into two groups, Mission X (known unofficially as the Suicide Squad) would handle foreign menaces and extraterrestrial threats to the US (headed by Col. Richard M. Flag), while Argent would tackle the domestic criminal element (headed by Control); similar to the post-World War II divide between the FBI and the CIA. .
