Synopsis:
- Clemente
- It's newly elected President Luthor's ticker tape parade and the whole of Metropolis has turned out to honor him...well, almost the whole of the city. Some of the denizens of Suicide Slum have turned out to complain about the way that the new technology in Metropolis has affected them, turning their neighborhood into a barren wasteland area of the city. Clark Kent, Lois Lane and John Henry Irons are also not supporting Luthor, but have preferred to do so less publicly, by staying away from the parade. Kent also has an important matter to discuss with Irons. He stutteringly tries to tell Irons that he is also Superman, but Irons (or Steel, as whom he is better known) has already worked this out; he is pleased to feel that Superman now respects him enough to officially let him in on the secret.
- They discover that a 'prisoner' of theirs, Luna, has escaped with her strange creature, the Lunatick. The two of them make their way to the Cybermoths organization, where Luna sics the 'tick on their new queen, Io, taking back control herself and demonstrating the lunatick's ability to absorb and re-use digital power. However, the 'tick gets a little 'drunk' on the power, and heads on a rampage towards Lexcorp, the source of all the new-fangled Metropolis technology. It's Steel, Superman and the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit and the rescue. However, due to the Lunatick's nature as a creature of the phantom zone, their attacks, grounded on a different form of physics than it operates on, are pointless. Superman and the S.C.U. attempt to distract it while Steel works on a way to cut off the 'tick's power. He is aided in this by a mysterious stranger who turns up at Steelworks. This stranger has had unusual things happen to his arm due to the infusion of futuristic technology which Metropolis received. When he closes his hand over a Kryptonian power crystal which in some ways controls the interface between reality and the phantom zone, the 'tick's power is shorted out, just before it reaches Lexcorp. Steel is very glad to receive this help... from long-lost friend Professor Hamilton.
