HISTORY

Omar Pairut received great wealth from his deceased father's oil fortunes, but also great power in the form of the Sun Stone. It had been in his family's possession since 334 B.C. when Pairut's ancestor, a Scythian slave, was entrusted with its safekeeping from the attack of Alexander the Great.

In the modern day, Pairut had studied the stone and over eight years learned its secrets. It gave him super human powers with which he sought to recreate the Persian Empire as Sunburst. First, he needed a symbol of his power.

Sunburst sought out the monarch of Atlantis, Aquaman. The two fought a brief battle, with Sunburst gaining the upper hand and leaving Aquaman for dead in the deserts of Iran. The Sea King, however, persevered and though he could not match Sunburst physically he was able to outwit Sunburst by turning the villain's power against him with a mirror. The Sun Stone could not take the feedback and melted into slag. Omar Pairut has not been seen since.
