HISTORY

A shadow-wraith (or "dark fey") created by the Shade from his shadow matter (see Shadowlands). Smudge was the Shade's finest creation, a sentient, independent and well-bred creature that helped Shade, Starman (Jack Knight) and their allies against Culp. Smudge sacrificed himself when he let himself be absorbed by Culp, channeling the Shade's power back to him.
