Comment(s):
- This story is the Post-Crisis version of the origin of the Justice League, first presented in Justice League of America #9. Batman is no longer involved at all, Wonder Woman is replaced by Black Canary. The locations of some of the battles is changed, such as Antarctica instead of Greenland, England instead of Italy, Star City instead of Paradise Island, and Cost City instead of Africa. The pairing of combatants. Aquaman now battles the Mercury Monster instead of the Glass Man, likewise Black Canary now fights the Glass Man whereas Wonder Woman had fought the Mercury Monster.
- Due to the effects of Infinite Crisis, Wonder Woman has since been restored to her status as a founding member, as have Superman and Batman. These changes are shown in the retelling of the Justice League's origin in DC Universe: Legacies #3.
- The Appellaxians are presented as one species, rather than eight wildly different physical forms. It is attributed to "battle forms" for each of the combatants.
- The meteorites carrying the Appellaxians contain Kryptonite and are hidden after this story.
