HISTORY
The Sacrament is an ages old religious organization worshipping fear itself. Many years ago, the Guardians of the Universe and their Green Lantern Corps had hunted the Sacrament and abolished their practices and teachings. Those remaining of the Sacrament hid in the shadows.
In more recent times, the Sacrament followed the rise of Sinestro with great admiration. When the Green Lantern Corps was inexplicably taken from the universe, the Sinestro Corps filled the power vacuum. Sinestro saw the need to bolster the power of his Corps with energy from the Fear Engine. Led by Administer Lash, the Sacrament was brought in to help reach this goal. The Sacrament was free to practice their religion once more, but only as far as permitted by Sinestro. While Sinestro used fear, he did not worship it and saw religion to have its uses. They would use fear as an instrument of order, not to prey upon the weak.[1]
To this end, the partnership with Sinestro involved the Sacrament's oversight of the Fear Engine housed deep within Sinestro's Warworld. Administer Lash and the Sacrament's subpriests prepared those who would feed the engine. Though the engine was brought online, easily doubling the power the Sinestro Corps, it was disrupted by the actions of the Green Lantern Corps and defectors among the Sinestro Corps. The Fear Engine was destroyed along with Warworld. The Sacrament have not been heard from since.[2]
