HISTORY
Charley Halstead, a linotyper for the Daily Courier in the 1940s, was a greedy man who masterminded a series of crimes based on emotions under the alias of the Psycho-Pirate. However, the Atom (I) exposed Halstead as the villain and he was defeated by the Justice Society of America. He returned to battle the JSA on two more occasions, but ended up with a long-time prison sentence. In 1965, just before dying in prison, Halstead told his cellmate Roger Hayden all he knew about human psychology, and tipped him about the enchanted Medusa Masks, an archeological find recently exposed by Kent Nelson. After Halstead's death, Hayden used the masks to become the costumed, second Psycho-Pirate.
