HISTORY

High school student Jason Hart first became the costumed Protector to inspire his cousin Ted, a big fan of super-heroes. Pretending to be a hero himself, Jason sought to persuade his cousin to give up his life of drugs. The masquerade backfired when Jason had to actually protect Ted from drug dealers looking to exploit him, but the Protector managed to save the day and his cousin. The story came to the attention of Nightwing, who rewarded Jason with honorary membership in the New Teen Titans. Jason got training from Nightwing and once assisted the Titans on a drug-related case. Mostly inactive these days, the Protector was last seen on a super-hero party in Beast Boy's LA apartment, where he and the other guests were forced to battle Fear and Loathing and the Harlequin (II).
