HISTORY

A veteran Green Lantern, Procanon Kaa has served the Corps for generations. He protects Space Sector 422, which includes much of the Khund Empire. By necessity, Procanon Kaa considers himself a warrior but would also mediate fights within the Empire. As could be expected, several Khundish warlords declare the Green Lantern is an enemy of the Empire and have banned him from many of the planets in his sector.

Years ago, after the so-called Crisis on Infinite Earths, Procanon Kaa was present at Sinestro's trial and execution on Oa. A cascade reaction triggered by Sinestro's death led to the collapse of the Central Power Battery. The headstrong Procanon Kaa attempted to stop the collapse but an energy tendril unleashed from the battery absorbed his power ring. - Green Lantern Corps #224

After the events of the Millennium project, in which the Guardians of the Universe accelerated the evolution of the Chosen on Earth, many in the universe considered the small blue world in Space Sector 2814 a threat. Forming a so-called Alien Alliance, races including the Dominators, the Citadel, Thanagarians, and the Khund sought out those that would defend Earth. Many former Green Lanterns were slain, such as D'aran Tuu and Pelle. Though Pelle was killed by the Khund, Procanon Kaa managed to elude his enemies and survive the purge.

Over time, the Green Lantern Corps would briefly rise and fall once more. When the Green Lantern Corps was reborn following Hal Jordan's return and the defeat of Parallax, Procanon Kaa once again joined the group. Presumably, Procanon Kaa later fought Superboy-Prime alongside the rest of the Green Lantern Corps during the event known as Infinite Crisis and fought the Sinestro Corps during the event known as the Sinestro Corps War.

Recently, Procanon Kaa’s daughter was slain during a Khund invasion of his homeworld ordered by the Khund emperor’s advisor, Khari. Angered and distraught found his sense of justice shattered. The Khunds would conquer worlds and enslave their populations. Their victims would be made to plunder their world while cities burned to the ground. The Khund called these conquered worlds "mud worlds" and thought nothing of the genocide of entire populations.

When a powerful alien race known as the Ichor landed their ships within the cities on Khundia, Procanon Kaa did not interfere. The Ichor burrowed deep into the ground, leaving no survivors. As the Khund were hated throughout the universe, no help would be coming as their world died.

The Khund were forced to seek outside assistance, and sought the help of the one they called the Destroyer, known on Earth as Wonder Woman. Procanon Kaa would not allow her to harm the Ichor and immediately fought the Amazon princess. Their battle was fierce, with Wonder Woman finally managing to defeat the Green Lantern but Procanon Kaa was not willing to accept peace with the murdering Khund. Eventually, Wonder Woman was able to remind him of his oath as a Green Lantern and gain his assistance in saving the Khund from themselves as Khari intended to detonate a radioactive suicide bomb. Khari would rather kill everyone than suffer defeat. Procanon Kaa contained the radioactive blast. As for the Ichor, they had left Khundia convinced by Wonder Woman’s friend Lt. Col. Etta Candy that despite the actions of the Khund, they should not be destroyed in the name of compassion.

Procanon Kaa believed he had put his world in jeopardy by aiding the Khund. He was certain they would regroup to attack his world once again. To prevent this, Wonder Woman drew upon the honor of both Khari’s daughter, Kho, and Procanon Kaa to create a treaty between their worlds. Procanon Kaa had lost his daughter, Kho Khari had lost her father. Kho would receive a power ring as a member of the Green Lantern Corps, dedicated to preserving the peace.

When the population of the border world Talcyion Omega was devoured by the so-called "Serpents of Heaven" under the control of the Citizenry, Kho and Lantern Thulka Re of neighboring sector 423 sought to assist Procanon Kaa. They found themseleves attacked, and Procanon Kaa was injured. Kho rescued her mentor and the sole survivor on the planet while Thulka Re sacrificed his life to draw attention from their escape. - Wonder Woman Vol. 3 #42
