In the year 85,721, totemic power icons, patterned after the heroic insignias from the past, were regulated by the Department of Extranormal Operations. These valuable icons were routinely bought, sold and traded among the population of the 853rd Century. When worn, these icons granted, for a limited duration, the superhuman powers represented by the icon. Hybrid icons granted combinations of powers of various iconic figures.
