HISTORY

Originally, "Phantasm" was an alias for Danny Chase when he joined the New Titans undercover to battle the Wildebeest Society in the extra-dimensional Azarath. The battle ended with the destruction of the Society, but the Azarethians, influenced by the evil Trigon, were still a threat. Danny, Raven, and the latter's mother Arella attacked the souls of Azarath and saved them from Trigon. However, an explosion killed Danny and Arella and merged their essences with the thousands of cleansed souls of Azarath. The result was a new, spiritual entity, who adopted the garb formerly worn by Danny and became the new Phantasm. Phantasm remained with the Titans for some time, and its spiritual powers proved a valuable asset. During a fight with an evil, Trigon-influenced version of Raven, the Phantasm was destroyed while attempting to contain Raven's evil essence.

Years later, Phantasm's body, along with that of other fallen Titans, was brought back to life in undead form by Brother Blood. They were defeated by the Titans with the aid of Kid Eternity and returned to the afterlife.
