HISTORY

As one of their many areas, the governmental D.E.O. (Department of Extranormal Operations) run several facilities designed to study and train young meta-humans. The commitment to these facilities is usually based on free will… but in some cases not. When the D.E.O. regards the child or teen a potential threat to society, he or she can be imprisoned with no connection to the outer world. When the specimen known as Secret fled one of those "orphanages", Young Justice was charged to capture her, but after learning that she had been mistreated by the D.E.O., let her at large and eventually made her a member of their team. Secret and Young Justice later returned to the Orphanage to free others like her. The D.E.O. officials have taken part of the criticism aimed at them, and will hopefully make the conditions better for the kids.

Among the various meta-humans who have been committed to D.E.O. Orphanages are: Secret, her friends Casey and Claire, the so-called "DEO Kids" of the Titans (Grace, Zeke, Eli, Scrap, and Nikki) and Kevin Tanaka. Orphanage staff has included Dakota Jamison and Epsilon.
