OVERVIEW

: Dick Grayson was once a circus performer with his family until his parents were killed during an act. Bruce Wayne, secretly Batman trained him to become the first Robin. Later, he changed his alter ego to Nightwing and went off to become a hero instead of the sidekick he once was.

HISTORY

Born into a family of circus performers, Dick Grayson learned acrobatic skills at an early age. Dick was a member of the famous acrobatic team The Flying Graysons of the Haly Circus. During the Graysons' portion of the show, Dick's parents John and Mary, fell to their death after their trapeze snaps. Spectators including Bruce Wayne watched as John and Mary died.

Their deaths were not an accident, but planned by the gangster Tony Zucco, who was running a local protection racket. Haly had refused to pay. Dick overheard gang members warning Haly of further accidents and so made a vow to avenge his parents death. While investigating the murders, Batman overheard Dick's vow and took the boy under his wing so that Dick would not hurt himself. Dick was brought to the Batcave where he asked if he could become Batman's partner in crime-fighting. Bruce Wayne became Dick's legal guardian. He then proceeded to train Dick to the peak of physical and mental perfection. When the time was right, Batman gave Dick a costume and dubbed him Robin. As Robin, the Boy Wonder, Dick captured Zucco, who was sentenced to a long prison term.

On one of his first missions as Robin, he didn't listen to Batman's orders, taking down an armed criminal. Batman was very mad at what Dick had done and fired him. Still ignoring Batman, Dick got the Robin suit and decided to take down villains. He was nearly killed until Batman showed up and helped him. Batman let him be Robin for good.

Later, Robin started going beyond Gotham City helping The Teen Titans, a group made up of teen superheroes, some sidekicks to heroes. He stopped be Robin and became Nightwing.

Nightwing (Red Suit)

He came back to Gotham City to drop off Zsasz at Arkham Asylum and saw someone. It was Superwoman a version of Wonder Woman from another universe. He was captured by her and The Crime Syndicate. His identity was revealed to the world. A member of The Crime Syndicate, The Grid made a trap that would kill him. Lex Luthor kept him alive, but everyone else thought that Dick Grayson was dead. He met with Batman in the Batcave, after. Batman made him join a group of super-spies called Spyral in order to make sure the identities of superheroes were kept secret. After the director of Spyral, Mr. Minos betrayed everyone in Spyral, Grayson killed him with help of Helena Bertinelli.
