HISTORY
The team called the New Olympians was organized years ago by the gangleader Maxie Zeus in an attempt to affect the outcome of the Olympics that year. The members are mortal villains with names and super-powers that correspond to the abilities of the Olympian Gods of the Greek/Roman pantheon. The members were: Maxie Zeus (leader); Antaeus (I) (super-strong when he touches the Earth); Argus (I) (can telepathically "see" at great distances); Diana (II) (a huntswoman and archer); Nox (mistress of a dark force); Proteus (II) (a shape-shifter); and Vulcanus (wields a hammer and throws fireballs). The New Olympians were defeated by the Outsiders (II) in their first outing. The members have not appeared as a team since, but Nox later appeared as part of Circe's army of female super-villains.
More recently, the New Olympians were killed by Gog as he made his way across Earth, killing those meta-humans that posed as gods. - Justice Society of America Vol. 3 #12
