HISTORY

Known only as "Mister E" (I) to most of his thugs, Nathan Ellery was the leader of the Conclave (I), the criminal organization who, in their search for the Bio-Restorative Formula, was responsible for the murder of Alec Holland and the creation of the Swamp Thing. Ellery hunted the Swamp Thing for months, using a radio transmitter inside the head of a dog that accompanied the monster’s friend Matthew Cable.

During a clash with Swamp Thing and Batman in Gotham City, Ellery was apparently killed, but reappeared later, and took Swamp Thing's friends Cable, Abby, and Jefferson Bolt as prisoners on the island of Kala Pago. The resulting encounter with Swamp Thing finally ended with Ellery dead.
