HISTORY

In 1968, a mysterious person known only as the Mockingbird assembled a team of people he had helped in the past, each an expert in some field. In each case, the Mockingbird had a hold that enforced obedience from the agent. One of them was Dr. August Durant, who had been infected with a deadly virus, and had to work with the Secret Six in exchange of a cure. On Mockingbird's orders, the Secret Six battled crime and communism for years, all the time knowing that Mockingbird was actually one of their own.

Many years after retiring, the team reunited for one last mission, in which all members but one, Carlo di Rienzi, perished. By that time, di Rienzi had learned that Mockingbird had been Durant, who had indeed suffered from a viral disease and been offered help by the government organization known only as “the Agency”. Thus, Mockingbird was as much a pawn as the rest of them. After the death of Durant and his other teammates, di Rienzi decided to become the new Mockingbird and found a modern Secret Six team.
