HISTORY
Brutal alien hunters with their own particular code of honor, members of the Predator species have spanned the galaxy for hundreds of years. Some have even come to Earth to hunt Batman and Superman on separate occasions.
- Batman Versus Predator, Superman Versus Predator
When a band of Predators were captured on a Dominator controlled moon, the Dominators cloned and modified the DNA of the vicious hunter species. The Dominators gave the already formidable Predators super-human powers similar to those of their hated foes, the JLA. At this time, there are known to have been nine so-called "Meta-Predators." The JLA counterparts include Aquaman, the Atom, Batman, the Flash, Green Lantern, the Martian Manhunter, Plastic Man, Superman and Wonder Woman.
The Green Lantern Meta-Predator utilized a yellow energy to match the emerald energy of the power ring, perhaps due to the traditional weakness of the standard Green Lantern Corps rings. It cannot be determined if the yellow energy power has been genetically added to the Predator, or if it is a technological device. In the past, the Dominators have attempted to gain access to a power ring for study but have had no recorded victories. In battle, the Meta-Predator appeared to focus the yellow energy through its right hand, possibly using a wrist mounted weapon as no power ring has been seen. Yellow energy, similar to lightning, would arc around the Predator, whether this is a force field or just a random effect of the power has yet to be determined.
It has yet to be revealed if the Dominators made more than one copy each or if other JLA heroes were in progress or completed as the project was obviously cut short. The Meta-Predators awoke and quickly killed all the Dominators in the facility, save three. These three Dominators escaped and the hunt was on. The Dominators were trying to reach Earth in the hope that the Meta-Predators would hunt the Justice League instead, or that the League would assist them. The only made it as far as the moon before their spacecraft was destroyed and were brought to safety in the JLA's lunar Watchtower by the Martian Manhunter.
The Predators infiltrated the Watchtower and brutally attacked the Martian Manhunter. Were it not for his Martian physiology, J'Onn J'Onnz would have died. The Dominators use the opportunity to escape via teleporter to three separate locations on Earth. Upon arriving at the Watchtower, the other members of the JLA assisted their fallen teammate then set out in pursuit of the Dominators. Green Lantern Kyle Rayner, the Atom, and the Flash (Wally West) found a Dominator in the Amazon rainforest. They were soon confronted by their Meta-Predators. The JLA's first battle with their counterparts was inconclusive as they were emergency teleported back to the Watchtower once each of the Dominators was found.
The JLA reunited on the Watchtower only to come under attack by the Meta-Predators. The heroes of Earth realized their foes were specifically designed to match their counterparts so the JLA exploited this weakness. Each Leaguer fought another Leaguer's counterpart. Batman and the Flash neutralized Green Lantern’s Meta-Predator. Green Lantern assisted by taking out the Atom and the Flash's Meta-Predator counterparts. Only Superman faced his own counterpart and eventually all were defeated. Rather than become prisoners, the Meta-Predators blasted a hold in the wall of the lunar Watchtower. They were sucked out into space and are presumed dead. The trio of Dominators was returned to their homeworld. It is not yet known if the Dominators will use their knowledge to create more Meta-Predators in the future. - JLA Versus Predator
