HISTORY

The Maximums were a "super soldier" team in an alternate dimension created by the Joker and Mr. Mxyzptlk. They came into conflict with Superman and Batman at a point where the two heroes had their histories rewritten and were evil. As such, the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight killed Skyscraper and left for parts unknown.

Urged on by the "ghost" of their deceased teammate, Bowman, who was secretly Mr. Mxyzptlk, the Maximums sought vengeance for the death of Skyscraper. They crossed dimensions to capture the heroes, whose histories had been restored and from their perspective had never "met" the Maximums.

They were later merged by the Joker into a single being with all their combined strengths named the "Maximum Maximum" to battle Mxyzptlk's pawn, the Composite Superman-Batman.
