- "Tragedy of the Traitor" comes to a final, fatal confrontation as Green Lantern faces Traitor! Kyle Rayner has never battled a foe like the space-born nemesis that nearly vanquished Abin Sur and Hal Jordan. Now Kyle's life is on the line, and the epic battle will not end without a body count.
Synopsis: - Bereft of his ring, Kyle Rayner realizes that his failure against Traitor could mean the destruction of Earth. However, he suddenly notices that not only is he breathing, but he still has his costume, which means that the ring must still be working, even in the form of a pile of dust. Summoning all his will-power, he is able to re-forge the ring and set off in pursuit of Traitor and Stellara. He catches up with them on the world of Ungara, where Kyle unleashes the full might of his ring on Traitor. However, Kyle was not aware that Traitor's armor automatically adjusts to any non-lethal attack, to make any subsequent similar attack useless. As the two of them fight, Traitor reveals that he sought GL out, not for revenge, but in order to make himself stronger, knowing that Green Lanterns have been the only ones able to stand against him. Beaten to a pulp, Kyle sends just a small beam of energy at Traitor, who, distracted a little by a sudden attack from Stellara, swallows it contemptuously. However, his armor immediately shorts out: Kyle had concentrated all his ring's power into an electromagnetic pulse. At death's door, he is picked up by Stellara, who unleashes most of her own energy, making him whole again at the expense of her own life; she was dying anyway due to her betrayal of Traitor.
- Kyle imprisons Traitor within the ruins of Stellara's world, burying her on its surface, and knowing that now, far away from the energy of dying stars, Traitor can surely be of no danger to anyone again...
