HISTORY

In a universe where magic, not science, ruled supreme, the world of Yuirth was threatened with annihilation. The entire universe was collapsing into the ultimate singularity. Engineers were able to build a great sphere, surrounding a cluster of stars with room enough to accommodate every being in that universe. The engineers were regarded as gods and intended that all would live in peace until the end of time and then pass away.

Some inhabitants of Yuirth thought otherwise. They wanted to live past the end, into the next reality and each thereafter, ruling these other universes. They were able to use the power of the Irrational, a force of evil, chaotic magic, to gain their objectives. The great Necromantic Wars ensued and many civilizations were destroyed. The greatest of these civilizations, Crypton, was ripped from its firmament. Crypton's only survivor was an infant, sent to Yuirth in a stasis pod.

The gods expended all of their energy to destroy those hat had brought chaos to Yuirth, turning them to stone. Mars, once a peaceful, flowery land, was the last battlefield. Dotted with the petrified hulks of the Omydons, thrall warriors defeated by the gods, the now inhospitable Mars was renamed the Scour. Unfortunately for Yuirth, the most powerful of the gods' enemies, the evil Luithorr, proved indestructible. The gods could only seal the Irrational, off from Luithorr and lay plans should Luithorr's evil ever rise again.

Luithorr wandered Yuirth for ages, seeking to regain his sorcerous strength by use of Crypton's Bane, the emerald power-stones that were the fallen shards of doomed Crypton. One day Luithorr discovered a vast field of Crypton's Bane and in the middle of that field the stasis bubble of the last son of Crypton. Luithorr raised the infant to become the mighty Sovereign, and put his son as the ruler of Metropolis.

Powered by Crypton's Bane, the massive, mobile city of Metropolis moved across Yuirth, destroying all in its path as it carved a mystical symbol in the planet's crust. This would give Luithorr control over the forces of the Irrational, destroying the universe of Yuirth and giving Luithorr the power to conquer other universes. To prevent this from occurring, the gods had created a number of guardians of Yuirth to fight the vile Luithorr.

An accomplished warrior, Madlebe Monomotapa had united Yuirth's Southard Nations and won the hand of the princess Mujaji. During that time, Madlebe Monomotapa had become friends with the wizard Atomus the Palmer. Madlebe Monomotapa found ruling an empire held no challenges and the princess was in love with another. Leaving the kingdom in the hands of Mujaji and her lover, Madlebe Monomotapa set out to raise an army to defend lands threatened by the Sovereign's conquests to the north.

The Arthurian Round Table of the Angleterran Realms sponsored Madlebe Monomotapa and gave him one thousand knights to form his army. They dubbed Madlebe Monomotapa Sir John Stewart, the Green Knight and granted him an emerald power gem claimed to be of godly origin as well as a mystic green lantern. The power gem, set in a gauntlet on the Green Knight's right hand, was a fragment Crypton's Bane.

Sir John Stewart enlisted the aid of the super fast Phaeton to run reconnaissance for his army and traveled through the threatened lands in Metropolis' path, gathering more warriors for his army. Though many cheered the Green Knight, few would actually join their hero in the crusade, fearful as they were of the wrath of the Sovereign.

One of the last of the old gods, known to many as the "Bird Lady," "Mistress of the Birds" or "Aurenim," knew that the champions of Yuirth would not be enough to defeat Luithorr and Sovereign. She used her power to open a mystical gateway to the "world unyet," the world known as Earth. The Bird Lady brought four teenagers, Ken, Alcy, Fred and Neil, from Brattleboro, Vermont to help save her world. Alcy, Fred and Neil were friends but Ken was a drug addict that hung around Brattleboro. League of Justice #1

The four teenagers would soon be split into pairs and discover their roles in the fate of Yuirth. Ken inherited the powers and appearance of the last Martian, following the Martian's death at the hands of Sovereign. Neil would be next to receive the guardian powers of a Yuirth champion when he was given super speed powers by the injured Phaeton.

Luithorr had great difficulty locating the foursome from the world not yet made but it mattered little to him. Luithorr's power was greater and he had Sovereign to lead his forces. Though Sovereign could destroy their enemies single-handedly, Luithorr required the chaos of battle to fuel the Irrational, the source of his magic.

The Green Knight's forces met those of the Sovereign on the field of battle. The Bird Lady knew the outcome of the battle before it began. Despite Atomus' help, Sir John Stewart and his forces would be defeated. The Sovereign targeted the Green Knight but found himself unable to slay Stewart. Moreover, the gem in Stewart's gauntlet caused Sovereign considerable pain. A dragon with a golden hide easily snatched up the Green Knight and carried him away to Metropolis. The gauntlet useless against the beast, Stewart threw the gauntlet where it was picked up by Fred.

Though Fred knew the power the gauntlet possessed, he found he was unable to use it. The Sovereign's forces were able to overrun those that sought to defend themselves from the coming of Luithorr's Metropolis. Luithorr could not see the gauntlet, undoubtedly because it was in the hands of the elseworlders. Though he was angered by the Bird Lady's manipulation of them, Fred came to believe she had done it for the right reason.

Utilizing the Martian's powers, Ken was able to see the Green Knight as Stewart's bruised and battered form was taken before Luithorr. The Green Knight had been tortured but did not reveal any secrets to the evil mage. The power of the Irrational was strong in Metropolis and Luithorr was able to see Ken despite the Martian powers of invisibility.

Neil was able to use the powers of Phaeton to join the Batmancer as they infiltrated the city-fortress. Reaching the absolute depth of the tower, Neil found a jewel that powered Metropolis. He took the jewel, believing he had defeated Luithorr as the Metropolis no longer cut its path across Yuirth but it would only be a minor setback as Luithorr had many other jewels to use in its place. They could only withdraw to find their friends Fred and Alcy. Fred was given the green jewel which he placed into the lantern of John Stewart. Touching gauntlet to lantern, Fred recharged its gem while reciting a sacred oath.

The teenagers were reunited the day after the defeat of the Green Knight's armies. Allied with the Hawk Lord and Lady of the Thanagaris Mountains, Atomus, the Batmancer and the four teenagers from Earth sought out assistance from Amazonia and Atlantis. They found both sides had eliminated to each other and were down to one representative from each side. The warriors had nothing left to fight for but vengeance as each perceived the other as the cause of their people's deaths.

The warriors halted their battle when presented with an image of the Bird Lady created by Fred and gauntlet's emerald energy. The Amazonian Princess died moments afterwards, slain by the Sovereign. Before she died, the princess passed the sacred diadem to Alcy, giving the teenager from Earth the powers of an Amazon. In moments Metropolis came into sight and zombie warriors attacked the Bird Lady's so-called League of Justice. Fred tried to keep the hordes at bay with his emerald energy but Luithorr was still growing stronger. The Sovereign wore golden armor to protect himself from the Crypton's Bane.

The Bird Lady and Luithorr were stalemated and Ken was able to mortally injure the Sovereign. Luithorr would not save the Sovereign, preferring his pawn sacrifice his life for him. Instead it was Ken that spared Sovereign's life. The Sovereign realized Luithorr had betrayed him and so he turned on his adoptive father. Plunging through the city-fortress, Sovereign destroyed Metropolis. He, Luithorr, the Bird Lady and Metropolis itself were gone. Luithorr and the Bird Lady would be locked in battle for all time in the Irrational.

Without the power of Luithorr the zombie hordes were frozen in place and the rift in the sky was closing. The teenagers had to escape Yuirth before it was too late. Ken would remain behind as the gauntlet once held by the Green Knight returned Fred, Alcy and Neil to Brattleboro, Vermont. They arrived in a flash of emerald light but their adventures on Yuirth were quickly forgotten, as if they had been in a dream.

Yuirth and the heroes of that realm have not been seen since. The fate of Sir John Stewart, the Green Knight has yet to be revealed. - League of Justice #2
