Synopsis:

Despero turns the members of the Justice League against each other in the Batcave. Soon, he has them all except Superman under his mental domination and both Catwoman and Alfred Pennyworth have been injured in the battle. Zatanna arrives on the scene, stopping Despero and freeing her friends of his influence. She then departs to remove the Secret Society's memories of their identities once more, an act she hopes never to have to perform again. It soon becomes clear that the Justice League essentially does not exist any longer, consisting solely of Martian Manhunter, Flash, Superman and John Stewart. Both Superman and the Flash also leave, but most members past and present say that they will be ready again when needed. Martian Manhunter realizes that Batman suspects that Zatanna altered Catwoman's mind, changing her from foe to friend and ally. Some time later, he and John Stewart consider who they could invite to reform the Justice League, but there is an unexpected visitor to the Watchtower, one who the Manhunter thinks is Superman. This assumption proves to be false, and he is caught up in the Watchtower's explosion.
