HISTORY

The monsterous Humbaba, with a face made from human entrails, was the guardian of the Cedar Forest when he was killed by Gilgamesh and his companion Enkidu. Humbaba’s spirit ended up in the Mesopotamian underworld Kurnugi, where he was revived by Nergal. Humbaba now does his new master’s bidding.
