HISTORY
Green kryptonite is the best-known version of a variety of radioactive substances created during the destruction of the planet Krypton. The force of the planet's explosion sent fragments of varying size and shapes across space, with arguably the bulk of recorded debris making its way to Earth. It is believed the kryptonite fragments were pulled through the space warp which brought the spacecraft carrying baby Kal-El to Earth.
Green kryptonite exposure is ultimately lethal to Kryptonians such as Superman.
In most versions of reality, green kryptonite has no effect on humans, though in one reality long-term exposure led to cancer.
