HISTORY
A hidden city, somewhere in the Arctic Circle, built by an evolved civilization of intelligent man-birds after they left the Nile Valley. This millennia-old culture was discovered in 1946 when an aviator managed to see some of its inhabitants during a flight. The discovery was announced on the radio and sparked the interest of a group of hunters from the explorer's club usually frequented by Carter Hall (a.k.a. Hawkman I). Alerted, Hawkman decided to find those "man-birds" and warn them of the coming threat. In Feithera, he made the acquaintance of Worla, leader of the bird-people and, with his help, managed to reason with the hunters and stopped an attempted putch by a faction of dissident Feitherans.
Feithera is also the native country of Norda Candrell, the hero known as Northwind and the hybrid son of a Feitheran and a human scientist. For years, Hawkman and Hawkwoman visited their friends in Feithera during their vacations. Their son, Hector used to play with Norda during childhood. Years later, Northwind brought his team-mates of Infinity Inc. to the hidden city with the hope that the science of Feithera could provide a means to detain Solomon Grundy. Feithera is mostly a pacifistic and highly spiritual society. The only weapon tolerated is the Goblas, a non-lethal gun that fires a ray affecting the nervous center of the inner ear, effectively depriving a person of their sense of equilibrium.
