HISTORY
On the planet Alteon-X downtrodden villager Erastus the Blacksmith had endured enough. Boss Tan, the village leader, had exploited him. Thugs had robbed him. His fate partner, Aleen, had humiliated him with infidelity and scorn. The cumulative effect of these abuses finally caused Erastus to snap.[1]
In a universe where the emotional spectrum was already fractured – the United Planets Lantern Corps' actions leaving only the Green Lantern Corps with a stable Central Power Battery – such intense emotional breaks could have unforeseen consequences. The destruction of the other power batteries had inadvertently paved the way for "Fractal Lanterns," dangerous manifestations of raw emotional energy by those unaware of its power. Alerted to the emotional disturbances across the stars, the Guardians of the Universe advised the Green Lantern Corps.[2]
In the instant of his emotional break, Erastus became a conduit for the red rage energy. It surged through him, twisting his mind and contorting his physical form. Now a terrifying embodiment of fury, he unleashed powerful energy constructs, his rampage across the village indiscriminate and brutal.[3]
Green Lantern Hal Jordan was in proximity to Alteon-X. There, he was met with the full force of Erastus's rage. Jordan's efforts to calm the man were in vain; blinded by fury, Erastus was beyond reason. The uncontrolled energy within him detonated, further devastating the village and leaving no trace of the blacksmith.[4]
POWERS AND WEAPONS
In the throes of his rage, Erastus was able to create red rage energy constructs, similar to those created by the red power rings.
