HISTORY
Doctor Aesop was an emerging crime boss in Gotham City who Batman was trying to bring down undercover as street thug “Lefty Knox.” Aesop became suspicious of “Lefty” when the henchmen twice “accidentally” set off alarms during heists. He tried to have “Lefty” killed by wolves in tradition with the fable of the boy who cried wolf, but “Lefty” was rescued by Catwoman. Later on, Batman and Catwoman tracked Aesop to his hideout where he was attempting to murder his criminal fence using a lion in tradition with the fable of the lion, the fox, and the jackass. Aesop attempted to escape the crime-fighting duo as they saved the fence and tamed the lion, but his flight was cut short by Hush who shot Doctor Aesop to an apparant death as a message to Batman.
However, Aesop survived and later came into conflict with Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy who had taken up residence in a building previously owned by Aesop.
