HISTORY
Named in honor of their late friend Bruce Wayne, AKA Batman, the son of Diana of Themyscria and Kal-El of Krypton, better known as Wonder Woman and Superman, Bruce Kent was born into a world decimated by war. The nuclear exchange that wiped out most of humanity took the powers of Earth's superhumans and the survivors slowly gathered to form new communities.
When an almost nightly series of thunderstorms began more and more superhumans found their powers were returning. They later realized Captain Marvel had been calling down the magical lightning of Shazam to restore his powers. Superman believed they should use their newly returned powers to help humanity while Captain Marvel took the opposing view. Half of the city's population left with Marvel to form Marvel City.
Three years later, signs were pointing to an eventual confrontation between both communities while Metallo had gathered his own army of mutants to attack. Wonder Woman left with the Cheetah and the Martian Manhunter to form an alliance with Aquaman and his undersea kingdom. They were ambushed and brutally murdered by Captain Marvel, his super powered children and Metallo, who had allied his forces with Marvel City.
After finding the bodies, Superman went off to fight Marvel. Along the way, he discovered the magical lightning had been slowly destroying the Earth. In a ruined city between the two factions Superman found Matrix, the former Supergirl, dancing around the ring and power battery of Green Lantern.
The two superhuman armies converged and with each punch thrown, the Earth was further damaged. Molten lava claimed those unable to fly as the Earth tore itself apart.
Returning to his son, Superman gave young Bruce Kent the power ring and battery of Green Lantern. Superman could have created an escape ship large enough for both of them but felt it was his son's turn to carry on his family tradition. Moments before Earth's destruction Superman placed the journal he had written inside the starcraft and launched his son into space. With the legacies of Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and that of Earth and Krypton, Bruce Kent would undoubtedly forge his own legend. - Superman: Distant Fires
It remains to be seen if Bruce Kent will develop the powers over hypertime that Jonathan Kent, the son of a Superman and Wonder Woman from a differing hypertimeline, possesses. - Kingdom #2
