HISTORY

The Belamort is a lifeform found on the planet Kahlo, primarily within the Forest of the Belamort which covers 10% of the planetary surface. While Kahloans claim the belamort is symbiotic, in truth it is more parasitic as its larvae feeds upon nutrients from a host while injecting a hallucinogenic sedative, similar to the Black Mercy. An excessive number of larvae simultaneously feeding on a host can lead to death of the host.

The Belamort is exclusive to Kahlo and exportation is prohibited. Powerful Kahloan families have invested in pleasure cities for offworld tourism. Kahloans' addiction to the Belamort has stagnated their cultural development.
