HISTORY

In an alternate reality, the El Family—Jor-El, Lara Lor-Van, and their son Kal-El—escaped Krypton's destruction and made their home on Earth, significantly altering many destinies.

When Green Lantern Abin Sur crash-landed, mortally wounded, his power ring found test pilot Hal Jordan as a suitable successor. However, Abin Sur's life was saved at the last moment by Jor-El and Kryptonian medical science.

Fate, unfortunately, was not as kind to Hal Jordan. Shortly after Abin Sur's rescue, Hal was gravely injured in a test-flight accident.

In the years that followed, Jor-El and Abin Sur became close friends. The Guardians of the Universe eventually requested Abin Sur escort Jor-El to Oa to discuss the Kryptonian's influence on Earth.
