HISTORY
First appearing in late 1947 / early 1948,[1] the Star Sapphire was an unnamed woman originally from Earth. Though she was chosen by the Zamarons to be their queen, until, in her words, "...they turned on me..." and revoked the real Sapphire, "stranding" her in the Seventh Dimension with a "cheap copy as a survival tool."[2]
She returned to Earth, seeking its destruction by bringing her Star Sapphire Planet from the Seventh Dimension into proximity with the Earth. The sapphire rays threatened to destroy all chlorophyll on Earth. Her plans were ultimately foiled by the Flash (Jay Garrick.)[3]
In late 1948, she appeared once more. Seeking to rule Earth, she shifted all the men to the Sixth Dimension, but again she was defeated by the Flash. [4]
Some decades later, she targeted Carol Ferris who the Zamarons had chosen as a new queen. She planned to use Ferris and her connection to a "real" sapphire to take her revenge on the Zamarons. In this attempt, a new Flash, Barry Allen, fought alongside Green Lantern Hal Jordan to thwart her plans. The Flash had confronted the Star Sapphire that she was deposed by the Zamarons because of her fear of men. Perhaps unable to face this truth, the Star Sapphire retreated into a sapphire gem and has not been heard from since.[5]
