STOP - Cassandra Cain (Batgirl's first word) Quote taken from Batman #567 (July 1999) |
OVERVIEW
Raised in silence by assassin David Cain, the only language Cassandra knew was body language, and in particular violence and pain. Her father taught her to kill at an early age, a skill she developed alarmingly well. However, after following her father to Gotham City, she rebelled against his violent ways, preferring the company of Barbara Gordon, who began to teach her to speak. Soon afterwards, Batman handed Cassandra the role of Batgirl, and she began assisting him in his war against crime and injustice.
Cassandra later gave up the role of Batgirl passing the mantle to Stephanie Brown, and changed her own name to the Black Bat.
